Jigsaw – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health
A free and confidential mental health support service for young people in Ireland, committed to changing how Ireland thinks about and supports young people’s mental health.
Jigsaw believe that schools play a vital role in promoting and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people. Their School Hub includes the following resources for schools: Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Toolkit (in English and Gaelige), E-learning for Teachers, School leadership, and a School Transition Toolkit.
Their Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Toolkit for Schools includes resources with a mix of methodologies including classroom discussions, animations, scenarios, reflexive exercises, and other worksheets. Support for teaching staff on how to deliver these resources in class is also provided. See Tools and Resources for more details of the School Hub and Toolkits.
Jigsaw’s E-learning for teachers includes online, interactive training programmes for teachers in collaboration with Education Support Centres Ireland (ESCI). Course 1, The Mental Health E-Learning Programme for Teachers aims to build the mental health literacy and skills of teachers, to encourage teachers to think about their role in promoting youth mental health, and to support teachers with ideas for whole school mental health promotion. Following this, teachers can access Junior and Senior Cycle based workshop presentations and interactive resources.
