Better Outcome, Brighter Futures. The National Policy Framework for Children and Young People. 2014 – 2020.
Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures is the first overarching national policy framework for children and young people (aged 0-24 years), developed and led by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs on behalf of the Government. Almost all policy areas have a direct or indirect effect on children and young people’s lives. The purpose of this framework is to coordinate policy across Government to achieve better outcomes.
The Policy Framework outlines a shared set of goals for children and young people aged 0 – 24 years and includes:
• Be active and healthy, with positive physical and mental wellbeing
• Achieve their full potential in all areas of learning and development
• Be safe and protected from harm
• Have economic security and opportunity
• Be connected, respected and contributing to their world
Due to COVID-19, a new national policy to succeed ‘Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures’ has been delayed until 2022.
