REVIEW OF ADOLESCENTS’ NEEDS FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE
This study examines the psychological assistance needs of adolescents and provides research and interviews with participants who are adolescents in secondary education institutions in Turkey.
According to this study, adolescents receive inadequate levels of psychological assistance from mental health specialists and school counselors; also their teachers, parents and other adults do not care enough about their problems. They mostly receive support from friends, teachers, family and other relatives, school counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists. It is emphasized that more studies are needed to meet the psychological assistance needs of adolescents in secondary schools. As a result, the importance of protecting and strengthening adolescents’ mental health is emphasized in this research.
