The National Youth Health Programme (NYHP)
The National Youth Health Programme, a partnership between The National Youth Council of Ireland, the HSE (Health Service) and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, provides a broad-based, flexible health promotion and education support and training service to youth organisations and to staff working in out-of-school settings.
The NYHP provide the following services:
– Capacity Building: The NYHP works with practitioners across the youth sector to build knowledge, skills and expertise on a range of health areas, including health promotion, mental health and sexual health. This work is achieved through the delivery of a range of training programmes on policy, programme and organisational development.
– Resource Development: The NYHP produces resources and materials on a range of health topics which complement and support the work of the youth sector.
– Strategic Development: The NYHP works in partnership with a wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure the youth sector is represented in the development of national policy and strategy, seeking to influence policy direction as appropriate.
