Well-being in Post-Primary Schools. Guidelines for Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention.
Practical guidance on how post-primary schools can promote mental health and well-being. Given the important role that post-primary schools play in the promotion of positive mental health, the guidelines aim to support schools in developing a whole-school approach to mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
The purpose of the Guidelines is to outline how schools can: • build on the existing good practice already in place in many post-primary schools • progress mental health promotion work using the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) Continuum of Support and/or the Health Promoting School Framework • provide an outline of the relevant supports and services available for schools in relation to mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
Developed by the Educational Psychological Service in consultation with advisors from the Department of Education and Skills, the Health Service Executive, the Department of Health and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
